Trick or Treat in the Village

Oak Bay Village is ready to celebrate the spooky season on October 31 with businesses from Foul Bay Road to Monterey Avenue preparing to welcome Trick or Treaters and Halloween celebrants of all ages. Participating businesses display a pumpkin poster in their window so trick or treaters know where to stop.

In addition to trick or treating, there will be entertainment and activities throughout the afternoon. Live music will be presented by Gravitation Wheel, featuring Brad Hawkes, Burke Rosen, Bill Hamilton, Paul Wainwright and John Hewson offering up fun, upbeat music.

Canvas Community Church will be on the front lawn of the Oak Bay Municipal Hall offering Halloween treats, games and a costume photo booth. EVO will also be onsite sponsoring a trick or treat stop and offering giveaways and prizes.

Oak Bay Fire Department will again be on the scene. Attendees are invited to try hitting a target using a real fire hose, with the assistance of a Fire Department member. The Department mascot, Sparky, will also be in attendance.
 

The annual Pet Costume Contest will be held in front of Engel and Volkers at 4 PM. Mayor Murdoch will be joined by Mira Laurence from 98.5 The Ocean and Jeff Bell from The Times Colonist to determine which of the best dressed pets will take home a prize.

Oak Bay Parks and Recreation is hosting a spooky Woodland Walk from 3 – 5:30. Explore the enchanted woodland path from the Avenue to the Monterey Centre and enjoy activities and family-friendly meals inside. Washrooms in the Centre will be open to the public during that time.

For adult celebrants, Cork & Barrel Spirit Merchants will be hosting Wine in the Courtyard with eight suppliers pouring wine, beer and spirits samples from 2 to 5 pm.
